This is the old Sabine River bridge, which was being replaced by the new Pendleton Bridge. Some say the bridge, which was built I believe in the 30s, was sunk into the waters of the new Toledo Bend Lake, but some reports indicate it was “floated” so the metal etc could be salvaged. This photo (restored from an old photo) seems to indicate the latter might have happened, however, I’ve had many fishermen tell me they have seen what they believe to be remnants of the bridge under the water (using sonar).
