Before Toledo Bend Lake, there was the Pendleton Gaines Bridge crossing the Sabine River over the El Camino Real (La. Highway 6 and Texas Highway 21). Photos taken in 1963 I believe, as preparations were being made to build the new two-mile Pendleton Bridge which will cross Toledo Bend when the Sabine River is flooded to form the lake.
