The Hodges Gardens Star Party public night is Saturday March 25th 2017! Amateur astronomers from Louisiana and Texas will be out by the red barn to show the public some amazing objects in very large telescopes. The public generally parks at the equestrian bathroom area and makes their way on foot or by hay ride down to the hay field where the astronomers are set up. Please only use dim red light flashlights once it’s dark. Any white light can ruin your night vision and make it harder to see. Arriving before dark is best. Sunset is about 7:30pm. The Friends of Hodges Gardens will be set up near the green houses with snacks and hotdogs, so please grab some treats on the way in and help support the park. Some items to bring with you: bug spray, warm clothes, blankets, chairs or grounds tarps, etc. If you have questions about the night sky, bring those too! This could be the last Hodges Gardens Star Party so don’t miss it! Let’s show the state this park has value and cannot be closed!
