Early 1960s… construction of the Pendleton Bridge over what will become Toledo Bend Reservoir. The two-mile bridge will connect Louisiana and Texas at approximately the central portion of the 186,000 acre lake. In the first photo, you can see the old Pendleton Gaines Bridge, which crossed the Sabine River prior to the damming of the river and creation of Toledo Bend.
