“Officer of the Law” In downtown DeRidder, Louisiana… The engraved plaque below the officer reads: “Service to the citizens of Beauregard Parish is our privilege. The administration of impartial justice is our responsibility. The protection of personal freedom is our most solemn duty.” Further, it reads, “This statue marks the site of the ‘doghouse,’ one of DeRidder’s earliest police stations. During the middle years of the twentieth century, this small building was the center of activity of the police department.” “Servitium Non Servitudo”
