Over the past several days, regarding the flooding in our region, All Things Sabine has received over 200 messages through Facebook Messenger. Some were questions, many were input of one nature or another, some were requests for covering this or that, and still more were from individuals who kindly shared information or photos which we in turned shared. I was just going through my messages, trying to make sure I didn’t miss any, when I discovered two unread messages. One was from an individual who lives between hard hit Evans and Merryville, asking us to try to get some aerial footage from her area. The other was from a Burr Ferry resident, who after reading my post that we were unable to get close enough to the River on Hwy. 8 from the Louisiana side or from the Texas side, offered to help since she lived close by. I am bummed I missed these messages, particularly the one from someone offering to help. I feel like this information, had I have seen it, would have helped tremendously with the coverage of the flood, and hopefully in turn helped to raise awareness of the toll the flooding was taking on areas and individuals we all call our neighbors.
Anyway, I still want to share the photos shared in one of the two messages… These photos are from Keilsey Wineland, who again lives near the Burr Ferry bridge and was kindly offering to help. One again, I am so sorry. (She sent these on Sunday). Two of the photos are of Louisiana Hwy. 8, huge chunks which were literally washed away with the flooding. The other photo is looking at the Burr Ferry Bridge crossing the Sabine River.
