The Sabine River is reaching historic record levels in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana. The river in numerous times in the past has reached and surpassed “flood stage” but the flooding now unfortunately is one for the history books. The last flooding on the River that even comes close to the Sabine today was in the 1950s… Two times strangely enough… Once in 1953 and once again in 1957. Here are some newspaper articles from those floods… The first few here being from 1953 and the last two from 1957.
