A bright sight in a gloomy setting… This happened while we were getting video footage this afternoon… A group of ladies drove down Hwy 8 in Vernon Parish towards the Sabine River, where people were trying to figure out how to save what they can from their homes which are flooded or close to being flooded, and brought sack lunches and bottled water to help out. It was so moving… I can’t even say… Their truck was loaded down with two enormous ice chests of food and water … They said they just wanted to help. I got them to reluctantly pose for this photo because I think they deserve credit, though they clearly seek none… They said they are simply moved to do what they can to help their Vernon friends and neighbors… People who they know and people who they don’t know who they feel a kinship for all the same. We really need more people like this… I have a lump in my throat as I type this… I can’t begin to express how touching this moment was and these efforts are.
