Wow, what an understatement to simply refer to this guy as “old timer”. Who remembers Herbert Glen Irwin of Noble, an eccentric character who kept complete private but had such an untold story to tell! I just finished (at the suggestion of an All Things Sabine reader) an amazing book about his life, penned by Jackie Knott, whose husband was a native of Noble.
This article appeared in a September 1981 issue of The Sabine Index. There was no obituary for Irwin, who had no family to speak of (though he did have family who even though they had legally disowned him and he them, was able to collect his valuables).
