- Frontier Days Celebration. Logansport, Louisiana. Beard contest. Written on photo: The festival includes a children’s pet parade, gun fight, square dance, pie eating contest, horseshoe pitching contest, fast draw contest, style show, dance and beard and costume judging. Each year the residents of Logansport ride horseback to Houston along the Old Spanish Trail, a distance of about 200 miles, for the Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo. From Louisiana State Library
