The reservoir is the nation’s fifth largest man made body of water, encompassing 186,000 acres, first conceived as a mode of generating electricity. Jointly controlled by Louisiana and Texas, this reservoir’s dam site is located near Hornbeck, La. More than 1,300 acres in public parks lie on its banks. Notes Creator unknown.
