From Louisiana Works Progress Administration files, a 1936 paper describing Louisiana State Normal College, which was a teachers training college in Natchitoches. My grandmother graduated from here and later taught kindergarten from her home in Lake Charles. She often bragged that she had taught most of the children who later became doctors’ lawyers and business men in Lake Charles. The Louisiana State Normal College later became Northwestern State University.
