Fun advertisement for party lines (watch Pillow Talk with Rock Hudson and Doris Day and you will get the gist of what a party line was!) from a Many 1950s phone book that Miss Sarah Vandegaer had saved and shared a few years ago. Once upon a time, people actually had to share their phone lines (only land lines back then!). Hard to imagine now. Oh, and you had to rent your actually telephone from the phone company … Plus pay the monthly service. I’m guessing even with that it was still phenomenally cheaper than today’s phone bills.
